The Accelerated Master’s Program in Systems Engineering will begin accepting applications for the next year’s cohort in mid-July.
UVa applications are submitted online. Click Official Application to register for an account and begin the application. When you set up your account, select “Systems Engineering” for your program. The admission year start term for the Accelerated Master’s Program is “Summer.” The intended degree is “Master of Engineering (AMP)”. These choices will lead you to the correct forms for the AMP and put your application into the correct reviewer pool.
You will create a username and password that will allow you to save your work and come back to the application to continue working on it. Materials you save to the online application site are available to the University; however, the director of the AMP, the program manager, and the admissions review committee members do not see your application materials (including transcripts) until the application is complete, the fee is paid, and the application is officially submitted.
Application Fee Waivers
The University of Virginia is pleased to waive the application fee for anyone who has served honorably in the armed forces of the United States of America. U.S. citizens who graduated from eligible Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs) will be granted an application fee waiver, and the University will waive the application fee for anyone who has completed a full term of service in the Peace Corps, Teach for America, or AmeriCorps. You may also qualify for a fee waiver based on your affiliation with several other organizations. For a full list of eligible organizations and MSIs see the UVa Graduate and Postdoctoral Diversity Programs fee waiver page.
You must start your official application before you request the fee waiver. To request a waiver, visit the application fee waiver page and click the link for the School of Engineering & Applied Science. This will take you to the online application system where you will log in using the password you previously created. Upload appropriate documentation and request the fee waiver BEFORE submitting your official application for admission. Wait until you receive notification that your waiver has been granted before you submit your official application. Applicants who are active duty military or veterans should submit the form and upload one of the following documents: DD Form 214, DD Form 256, WD AGO, military orders, or a copy of your military identification card or veteran identification card.
Veterans and active duty military personnel who are applying for a fee waiver are requested to alert the AMP program manager at firstname.lastname@example.org before submitting the official application. Prospective students applying for fee waivers based on organization affiliation or attendance at a Minority Serving Institution should contact Dr. Keisha John, Director of Diversity Programs in the Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs, with any questions and cc the AMP program manager at email@example.com.
